Al Ain Choral Society

Al Ain Choral Society is a mixed adult choir.  Each year the choir normally does a Christmas concert in December and a less formal musical event in the late spring. The members rehearse on Sunday evenings from 7.30 to 9pm in the Music Room at Al Ain English Speaking School. New members are always welcome: adult and young adult, male and female.

The repertoire is varied: from traditional to modern, classical to popular.

Says contact Geraldine Kershaw, “Some of the songs we sing are in harmony but others will be unison, and we include a wide range of pieces from traditional to classical to modern. If you like singing why not come along? We look forward to welcoming some new singers this year!”

For further information or for directions to the school, contact Geraldine at gkershaw [at] emirates.net.ae, or telephone her on 050 563 9719.

  1. I’m really interested to join this choir. I like to be more active in my extra curricular activities. I hope there’s a room for me and wish there are also Filipinos within the group. I’m a bit shy that’s why it’ll be hard for me to break the ice. I’d like to ask also if I have to undergo an audition first before becoming a member? I’m looking forward to hear from you guys soon.

  2. Thanks for your comment. My wife has never been in a choir before, and she was nervous about going along, but she loved it, and goes every Sunday night to choir practice. She comes back home afterward, looking very happy. I think the choir will make you feel very welcome. There are many nationalities in the choir. I’ll email Geraldine and get her to comment about the audition process. She’s a lovely lady.

Dear Joaqxz – and anyone else who happens to read this….
The choir is a very mixed group, at the moment we have singers from every continent except South America, and many countries, including the Philippines. What we all have in common is that we enjoy singing. There’s no audition to join the choir – some people can read music abut others can’t, so we spend time helping everyone learn the music. Our Christmas concert is on December 9, why not try and come along? In January we’ll start rehearsing for the Spring concert so that’s a good time to come to a rehearsal and see how you like the group.

  4. Thank you for your reply to Joaqxz, Geraldine. My wife Catherine is so looking forward to singing in the upcoming choir concert as she loves the varied songs you guys have chosen. Last year’s concert was truly wonderful.
